Crow’s Feet

About Crow’s Feet

Crow’s feet, also known as lateral canthal lines, are fine lines that form on the outer corners of your eyes. They are most often caused by aging, sun damage, genetics, and smoking. As we age, the collagen and elastin production in the skin starts to decrease, making lines and wrinkles more obvious.

They can also form because the tiny muscles around the eyes constantly contract as you express yourself every day. To start, they may begin to show up when you’re smiling or laughing, but over time, they can appear even when you aren’t expressing an emotion.

While these lines are a natural part of life, many of our patients would like to reduce their appearance to achieve a younger appearance. That’s where our team at SkinPerfected comes in.

Crow’s Feet Treatment Options

You don’t have to simply deal with crow’s feet. There is an array of treatment options available to help you say goodbye to these pesky wrinkles. At SkinPerfected, we’ll design a custom treatment plan that meets all your needs.

Botox

Botox is one of the most popular treatments for crow’s feet. By temporarily stopping the facial muscles from contracting, the skin will smooth out.

With just a few Botox injections, you’ll see results within two weeks, and those results can last for 3-4 months. After your injections, you can also get back to your normal routine right away. There is minimal downtime, making it perfect for those with a busy schedule.

If you are struggling with dynamic crow’s feet, are in generally good health, and have realistic expectations of treatment, you are likely the perfect candidate for Botox.

Dysport

Dysport is similar to Botox in that it is an FDA-approved neurotoxin that uses botulinum toxin to temporarily stop specific facial muscles from contracting.

When injected in the muscles near the eyes, it can help to smooth crow’s feet and achieve the beautiful and younger-looking appearance you desire. While Dysport is primarily for frown lines, it can also be used “off-label” around the eyes. And because it works on most skin types and provides results within a week, it’s perfect for most people. After your injections, you can also get back to your normal routine immediately.

Dysport is perfect for anyone in good overall health with realistic expectations of treatment. It’s also best for patients who are nonsmokers and those who aren’t pregnant or breastfeeding. It’s also great for anyone looking for an alternative to Botox.

Daxxify

Daxxify is like Botox and Dysport, but it contains a purified form of botulinum toxin. This means there are no human or animal byproducts in it, and allows it to last 6-8 weeks longer than the other neurotoxins. When injected into the muscles near the eye area, it will stop the nerve signals from the brain that cause the muscles to contract. This allows the skin to smooth and leaves you with a more youthful complexion. Daxxify can be used “off-label” for crow’s feet as well.

Some of the benefits of Daxxify include fewer lines and wrinkles, next to no downtime, and lasting results. You can expect to see a younger-looking appearance for up to six months or more. And because the procedure is so simple, you will be in and out of our office in no time.

Healthy adults with moderate to severe lines and realistic expectations of treatment are typically perfect candidates for Daxxify.

Skinpen & Regenerative Microneedling

Looking to rejuvenate your skin without undergoing invasive procedures? Skinpen and regenerative microneedling are likely the perfect treatment for you. With this treatment, tiny needles are used to make micro-punctures in the skin.

The microneedling process stimulates collagen and elastin production to address everything from crow’s feet to acne scars and more. And because the results can last for up to six months, you only need a few treatments a year after an initial series of treatment sessions. After treatment, you can also go about most of your daily activities, so it won’t interfere with your schedule.

If you’re looking to reduce wrinkles and completely rejuvenate your skin, you can’t go wrong with microneedling. We also recommend that you be in good overall health, not have any active skin infections, and have realistic expectations.

FAQs

Does microneedling hurt?

Most patients tolerate microneedling very well without a topical anesthetic, but we do provide it to ensure your comfort. You may feel a slight tingling or prickling sensation, but that’s about it.

How can I prevent crow’s feet?

There are many different ways to prevent crow’s feet. Regularly applying sunscreen, sticking to a healthy diet, drinking plenty of water, getting enough sleep, and avoiding smoking can all stop the development of crow’s feet. Minimally-invasive aesthetic treatments can also work to prevent crow’s feet from showing up.

How often do I need treatment for my crow’s feet?

How often you need treatment for crow’s feet depends on the severity of your crow’s feet and the treatment you have had. Botox, Dysport, and Daxxify typically need to be done every 3-6 months. Microneedling requires repeated treatment 2-4 times a year.
