What Is Botox?

Botox is FDA-approved for the treatment of fine lines, wrinkles, and expression lines. It is a highly recommended, advanced skincare treatment due to the many benefits it has to offer. This non-invasive cosmetic treatment is part of a group of neuromodulators. Neuromodulators use a toxin called botulinum toxin type A to temporarily stop muscle movement in your face. While age and genetics contribute to facial wrinkles and fine lines, continuous muscle movements are the main cause of expression lines. As a result of the botulinum toxin injections, your muscles are relaxed, and the appearance of wrinkles is reduced.

What Does Botox Treat?

Botox cosmetic injections can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on your face, lips, neck, and hands. Your botulinum toxin injection can also restore elasticity and firmness to your skin and enhance the size and shape of your lips.

While Botox is a popular choice for the reduction of wrinkles and fine lines, it is also a preventative treatment. In preventative cases, smaller amounts of Botox are injected into each injection site. If you are looking for a treatment that can stop wrinkles from forming on your face, this may be the ideal treatment for you. Botox can be used early to prevent muscles from causing repetitive muscle movement. You can add Botox to your regular skincare routine. Whether you are searching for a treatment that can treat wrinkles and fine lines, or a treatment that will prevent them from appearing, Botox offers natural-looking, long-lasting results.

Botox can also treat conditions of severe underarm sweating, overactive bladder, chronic migraine headaches, cervical dystonia, and neck pain.

How Long Does Botox Last?

Because Botox injections are non-surgical and use a neurotoxin to achieve results, your body will gradually remove it from your system metabolically. Although the results will vary from person to person, the effects of Botox treatments can be enjoyed for 3-4 months. Thereafter, you can have follow-up treatments when you see wrinkles and fine lines returning to your skin. This means that by having 3-4 treatment sessions a year, you can maintain your wrinkle-free skin.

How Long Does Botox Take to Work?

While you can enjoy the results achieved with Botox for up to six months, initial results will be visible in just three days after treatment. The full effects of Botox injections can be seen in about two weeks. The results appear gradually and discreetly due to the nature of the neurotoxin used. Before you know it, your skin will look and feel smoother and healthier.

Botox Naperville Before and After – The Benefits

There are many skin care treatments available on the market. Each one of them has unique properties and targets specific skin concerns. With so many treatment options, you may wonder what makes Botox stand out from its competitors. Here are a few reasons to choose Botox injections to treat your skin concerns:

Botox Can Be Used to Prevent Wrinkles

One benefit that stands out from the rest is that Botox can not only be used to treat wrinkles but can prevent them from forming. You can incorporate Botox into your skincare routine at an early stage.

No Need to Schedule Downtime

Because Botox is non-surgical and minimally invasive, it does not use incisions or anesthetic during the procedure to produce results. This means that when you are done with your treatment session, you don’t need to schedule any time to heal. You can continue with your daily activities as you normally would.

Versatile

If you are looking for a treatment that can treat various skin concerns at the same time, Botox is a suitable treatment for you. Botox can treat more areas of concern than any of its competitive cosmetic treatments.

Long-Lasting Results

While traditional skincare methods may promise drastic results that keep your skin smooth and healthy for a long time, they rarely live up to these promises. However, Botox can give you effective results for 3-4 months.

Quick Results

The results that you gain from some injectable treatments may only become visible after six weeks. Botox shows initial results in just three days and full results in two weeks. This means there is no long waiting period to enjoy your healthy skin.

It Can be Paired With Other Treatments

While Botox injections are highly effective for wrinkles and expression lines, the treatment does not add volume to your skin as dermal fillers do. However, Botox can be easily paired with a dermal filler of your choice to achieve more drastic results.

Natural-Looking Facial Expressions

Contrary to what some people say about Botox, the treatment does not leave your face without expression. The results that you achieve look natural.

Botox FAQs

Can Botox age you?

100% NOT! It is an amazing antiaging treatment that was approved in the early 2000's and we have lots of proof showing it can help to slow our aging process.

Can Botox lift eyebrows?

The eyebrow lift can vary from patient to patient but most will see a slight lift of their brow.

Can I go for a walk after Botox?

A walk is fine after botox but we prefer you do not elevate your heartrate significantly for 2-4 hours after the treatment.

Does Botox make you look older after it wears off?

Not at all! However you may perceive that you look older simply because you were so used to how amazing you look after Botox.

How long does Botox last?

Botox lasts on average 3-4 months

Is Botox good for under eye wrinkles?

Botox is great for the wrinkles around our eyes but don't worry…when done correctly you can have a nice natural result and still smile and we can even leave behind a little twinkle at the corner so no one even knows you had it done! Treating the eye area also helps Botox work better overall and you can get more of a lift when we relax all of the depressor muscles in the upper portion of the face!

Should I move my face after Botox?

Yes! There are some studies showing that making the various facial expressions (like scowling) can cause the Botox to bind more preferentially to the nerve junction and result in an even better outcome! We recommend making your faces every 10 minutes or so for the first two hours after injection.

What age should I start Botox?

We feel you should start getting it as soon as you start seeing fine lines develop or even in your mid 20's. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and it holds true for Botox! Once the expression lines get really etched into the skin they are harder to soften and resolve. So do not wait too long!

What are the bad side effects of Botox?

There is a very small chance of lid ptosis which is where the upper eyelid can droop for a 2-3 week period. There is an eye drop that can mask the side effect and it does go away on its own and does not last the full time of the Botox treatment. We are very careful about our injection techniques however and this significantly reduces that risk.

What do I need to know before getting botox?

It is best to avoid alcohol and blood thinning agents 24 hours before if possible to reduce the risk of bruising.

What is Botox used for?

We can use Botox for dynamic wrinkles of the face but we also utilize it for things like grinding our teeth, TMJ, reduce pain/tender points in the Trapezius muscle (better known as Trap Tox) and even use it to help reduce excessive sweating in the armpits, hands and feet!! Botox truly is a useful medication! And these are just a few of the additional areas/conditions we can treat with Botox.

What should you not do after Botox?

It is best to avoid massage, lying down, going to sleep or vigorous exercise for 2-4 hours after injection.

Who should not get Botox?

Anyone pregnant or nursing should not get Botox.
